Today began with a light breakfast and rain. We put aside the I-phone to wander around the different neighborhoods and streets of Seattle, finding ourselves exploring the locks linking Lake Washington and Puget Sound, English gardens, fish ladders, and the trails, beaches and lighthouse of Discovery Park. As we entered Discovery Park the clouds parted and some sun returned to make a gorgeous walk through tall grasses and lush forest.
Much of the rest of the day was very food oriented. We found some great food finds including fish and chips and salmon tacos at Little Chinooks on the wharf. Afterwards we stopped in at a local butcher shop and found local farm raised, grass fed beef slaughtered on the farm with a mobile slaughter unit. We bought steaks to grill while camping and sausage to cook for breakfast. A short nap and some errands later we hit the market for Copper River salmon from Alaska that was caght fresh during the salmon runs. We cooked up an awesome fish dinner at the condo which was well worth the effort.
Perhaps we'll head out to Capitol Hill's downtown for a few hours on the town. Beautiful day after all with great morning and afternoon weather!

Sunny in Seattle!
Today was an easy trip through the airport and a great flight on Virgin America.
We made it to Seattle in time for lunch at Pike's Place Market where parking was only $8.00 per half hour! FYI we finally found street parking which was free for Memorial Day. The market was bustling with people and full of fresh seafood, produce and flowers. We had amazing clam chowder, shrimp and Beecher's Mac and Cheese. The city seems very relaxed and easy going with a lot of people sunning, walking dogs, picnicking and playing in the park.
The condo rental we are staying at is in Capitol Hill...it's beautiful and really close to a fun main-street with great restaurants and an expansive green park. After walking through the park, we went to one of the many coffee shops and had a couple drinks, and later got a take home pizza for dinner and some beer and wine from the store. So many places to try we will see what comes next...there is fresh salmon from Alaska in all the stores that sounds good for tomorrow.
Pictures to come soon!!
